The agreement to buy the Patriot system is Poland’s largest defense contract

Poland has just signed a contract to purchase an anti-aircraft system and the anti- missile system Patriot from the U.S.

It is the basis for the medium-range air defense program “Wisla”.Together with the Patriot system, Poland has gained valuable pioneering technology. According to the Ministry of National Defense, this is the most modern system of command, currently implemented by the Americans, and Poland, as the first country in the world has obtained access to this technology.

"This is the latest American technology, which the Americans are not selling to anyone else. We are the first country that will have the latest elements of this system. This is proof that we are one of the most important allies of the United States in this part of the world. We will also have the opportunity to develop, some elements of this system on Polish territory (...) This is a system, which will in an unprecedented way keep our sky safe " - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki yesterday.

The head of Government ensured, that the experts who negotiated the offset agreement learnt a lesson from the past and negotiated a contract that is very beneficial for Poland The contract is not only beneficial because of the price of the purchase, but also, because an important element of the project will be the modernization of the army, which will lead to an enlarged production capacity of the polish defense industry and the reindustrialization of Poland.

he Prime Minister emphasized that the agreement also strengthens the partnership between American and Polish industry, which will in the future enhance this relationship "We want the best possible friendly relations with all our neighbors, including Russia, but we're not naïve. We are realistic, and such friendly relations in the future, would best be served by our military strength and the solidarity of the transatlantic alliance. This is an extremely important element of this contract-we are demonstrating cooperation and solidarity between individual countries, and cooperation in the production will be carried out with the participation of Polish industry- stressed the Prime Minister.
